Photovoltaic System Design & Installation

2010 Solar PV, Solar Thermal
2011 Solar PV, Solar Thermal, Wind
2012 Solar PV, Solar Thermal, Geothermal

The Photovoltaic System Design & Installation program is structured for our graduate to be awarded the Photovoltaic Systems Installer/Integrator certificate. Throughout the six-month program (288 total contact hours), students are supervised by instructors to ensure their competency of each chapter within the 15 chapter book, Photovoltaic Systems, authored by James Dunlop. Students must display a full understanding of the course material on a chapter-by-chapter basis as reflected through chapter’s examination to display their knowledge and understanding of the material.

Breakdown of the course is classroom instruction – 75%, with practical demonstration and application – 25%. Chapter grading is Pass/Fail. Students must pass their current chapter prior to moving to the next chapter.

The course provides students with the fundamental knowledge of how to sell/market, design and install a photovoltaic (PV) system to capture the sun’s radiation energy and turn it into electric energy. Students will learn the practical design criteria, installation guidelines, safety issues, maintenance, permit, legal, sales/marketing and economic consideration of PV systems.

The ultimate goal of our training program is for graduates to get jobs. Thus, we want our students/graduates to be prepared (positioned) to take/pass the NABCEP examination.
